Let’s take it back to basics today and talk about the Colour Wheel, an essential tool for creating stunning resin pours. It helps us understand how colours work together and how to make our art truly pop!
One of the easiest ways to bring life to your artwork is by using complementary colours. These are pairs of colours that sit directly across from each other on the Colour Wheel, like Blue & Orange or Green & Red. When you pair them together, they complement each other and create vibrant, eye-catching results. And trust me, I’m speaking from experience here! I absolutely love testing new things and I was blown away by the results of our latest resin pour—how I was able to bring this design to life was amazing.
Why should you use complementary colours? When placed next to each other, these colours enhance each other’s intensity, making your artwork stand out with energy and contrast. Today, we’re experimenting with Blue & Orange and Green & Red to show just how these colours can breathe life into your resin pours.
How to use the Colour Wheel in your art:
- Find a colour that catches your eye on the wheel.
- Look directly across the wheel, that’s its complementary colour!
- Mix them into your pour for a bold, high-energy look that grabs attention.
Not a fan of such bright colours? Looking for something more subtle and soft, try using analogous colours (those next to each other on the wheel) and can be viewed here (Adobe Colour Wheel) for a more blended, calming effect.
